Hello Everyone!!Well we cant really remember the last time we updated everyone - think we were in Lamai about to go to Chaweng - yeah so we got there - its only about 20 mins in a taxi up the road but then it took us about 3 hours to find somewhere to stay - thats a long time when u are carrying your own bodyweight in luggage on your back!! We eventually found a place called the Samui Plaza where we bartered with them and eventually got them down the three pounds per night!! so we settled with that!! and booked 11 nights - the longest we have stayed in one place! The hotel we picked did not have a pool but it did have a sister hotel up the road with a pool so we walked up there most days and used the pool which was right on the beach also!! it was so so hot - a couple of afternoons we had storms which is quite cool over here!! the raindrops are the size of footballs!! and then as soon as its done the sun comes out again!! One day we were a bit bored so we got jet skis - han and nat on one and heidi and jo on another -!! it was so much fun. We found a nice Irish Bar in Chaweng Beach with gorgeous food we ate there most of the time - a huge beef burger with chips and salad was only 150 baht - (100 baht is about 1 pound fifty sterling) so not expensive at all!! u can have a gourmet meal over here for about 5 english pounds!! its fab!! beer very cheap - i dont like beer but they drink alot of Singh beer - th equivalent of say Carling and Chang beer - think this is the Stella alternative as i have heard a few people complain about getting Chang belly - dont think it agrees with some people!! Christmas day we went on a day trip - you can book these all over the place at most internet cafes etc!! It was called a jungle safari - the pics are on the blog!! We got picked up at 9 in a battered old landrover then went to various stops to pick various people up - these included a miserable couple of Germans - she looked like she was chewing on a wasp all day - and a lovely couple from Newcastle - Lorraine and Tony - middle aged - smoked like chimneys but were so so lovely!! We went first to the Grandfather and Grandmother rocks - wont say much about this but it was a bit sick!! There is a story behind it but i think the pics on the blog speak for themselves! We then went to watch a monkey work the coconut. This is basically watching monkeys go up the tree and get the coconuts down - they are trained to do this as they can work a lot faster than humans - its really cool to watch - and then we all had our pics taken with the monkey - and he stole Lorraines glasses!! Next stop was the 'safari' bit of the day - i will keep it short as i hated every minute of it - the elephants looked neglected - they were young and dragged around by their ears - up and down and performing tricks all day for money and posing for pictures it was awful - really upset me and then we went over to the crocodile enclosure- these animals were obviously drugged - two guys got in with them and had to drag them around by their tails to get them to move and then they were putting their heads in their mouths and sticking their fingers down their throats and hiding money in there and all sorts - every minute of it was awful - glad to get out of there!!When we got back to the landrover the driver - he was an absolute nutter - pointed to the top of the landrover - above his head was like a plastic seat the length of the car with enough room just for a 4 of us and a little bar to hold onto - he was asking if we wanted to sit up there - u know us - so we did!! and then we headed up the mountain!! oh my god talk about off roading! we were bashed about all over the place - i was on one of the ends i nearly fell out on numerous occasions- and then someone touched heidis arm - and she looked and the driver was stood at the side of her - he wasnt even driving the car properly!! this landrover was made of steel we spent the rest of the day up the mountain over jumps they made - speeding down hills and slamming breaks on - standing on the bonnet whilst he was drivnig - anything went!! it was so much fun!! we wnt to this panoramic view- it was amazing u could see all of koh samui and phangan - and the driver found a spider that is local - it was HUGE!! they were trying to scare us with it - and if it wasnt the actual spider they had got a bit of grass and were tickling people behind the ear with it and everyone was screaming!! No one dared hold it - so han stepped up like a man and had it run up my arm and then onto my neck - it was cool!! check out the pic!! Such a fun day - and we all had the brusies to show for it!! on the night we went for a really nice tea and a couple of drinks and thats all the excitement we could handle for one day!! On the Thursday we came over here to Koh Phangan - it was about an hour on the boat and then we got a taxi to where we are staying - we are about 40 mins away from Haad Rin where the Full Moon party is and where it is party central all the time - which we are glad of as its nice to have some peace and quiet sometimes!! we are staying at moon beach bungalow - its small and we are right on the beach in huts on stilts!! the restaurant is where everyone hangs out - there are just cushions on the flor so people go here to eat, sleep, watch movies - we have spent a few nights playing Jenga and Connect 4!! thats how boring it is sometimes!! we have had our first real experience of travelling tho as have met quite a few people - 2 guys from OzJony and Alex - 1 guy from sweden 1 guy from norway a couple of people from Hull!! quite a good crowd here at the moment!! On Saturday we decided we were bored so we went and hired mopeds!! I was th driver of one and Nats was the driver of the other - we were the men and Jo and Heidi were our girlfriends riding on the back!! They are so much fun - i am quite the professional now - but i can see how people do some serious damage to themselves on those things!! me and jo got stuck going up a really steep hill - we didnt get enough of a run up - and the bike is so heavy i fell over with it and bashed my leg - i am so hard tho so its ok!! but it was a laugh!! u dont even need to show your driving licence out here - they dont care - we have seen kids of about 10 flying around on scooters - everyone out he has them!! Just wanted to say too - happy new year to everyone - love u all, here's to 2008!!!The Girls xxx
