After the worlds worst bus journey, we finally arrived in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We set off rom Bangkok at 7am and experienced our fisrt hole in the ground toilet which was undignified to say the least - makes the Station pub toilets look posh!!!
We crossed the border where we were met by children begging. There was one lilltle boy about 4yrs old with a baby tied to his back with a scarf. They were trying to grab Han's bag so she kicked them away (ha ha only kidding) but it was scary. We were told not to give them any money though.
We were then on a smaller coach without air-con for a further 8 hours. The roads were unbelievable! You can't even call it a road, it was more of a dust track with pot holes everywhere and they don't have and rules for driving - you just weave in and out of the cars and bikes.
We stopped at a bar on the outskirts of Siem Reap and thought we were in hell! Children ran up to the coach as soon as we pulled up. there was a rat and a cockroach running across the floor and lizards were climbing the walls... we were all far from impressed! visiting the loos we were greeted by flees all over the sink not to mention yet another hole in the floor for a toilet!
we arrived at our hotel which is clean and quiet nice. we are still only doing 3 nights here and not the week as planned.
Well how do we describe Cambodia? they are either very rich or very poor... poor living in shacks bathing in sewage water or rich living in mansions surrounded by shacks.
We went to visit Ankgor Wat temple today and after that went to the temple where Tomb Raider was filmed... check out the picture of Heidi as Angelina Jolie!
Were heading back to Bangkok tomorrow (by bus) argh! We are then going to spend a couple of nights with Paul and Puk to experience as bit of Thai life and then heading down to the islands to start the sun tans!
We are experienced tuk tuk riders now as you can see from the pictures and are all in need of a good bath due to all the dust and dirt over here.
Take care and we will update you all again from the islands.
Love the girls.
