First of all, this day was probably one of the hardest days for us. Saying goodbye to all our family and friends, and trying to stay strong was so difficult. But I know we will be back and with so many life changing stories to tell. I love you all so much and I really hope you enjoy experiencing our journey with us.
So...the day finally came! After a long time of planning our move abroad, we were off on a flight to Europe. When Brian and I purchased our tickets we decided to get a flight on Swiss Air because of the great reviews. We hoped for the best, but still did not expect too much. But as soon as Romy took us to the airport, we really got lucky with our baggage. I thought I was going to have to leave one behind, but the lady at the check in desk was so nice in letting me check in another bag for free. It would have cost us $250 for a 3rd bag!! I am so thankful for her. When we got on the flight, the flight attendants got right to it. Giving us drinks. In this picture you see Brian enjoying his complimentary beer! This was followed by two more complimentary red wines, dinner, tons of bread rolls, snack packs, more drinks, and Swiss chocolate!!! What more can you ask for!! Well I guess a first class seat, but this was just as good! ;) the only downfall to the flight was the fact that this lady behind me kept pushing my seat back up. I think I had little kids sit behind me that acted better than her. Moving on, the flight went quite fast because of all the movies we could watch, and the advil pm we took. Haha. In the am we received breakfast on the flight with even more drinks! We finally arrived to Zurich, Switzerland where we had a 3 hour lay over. This gave us time to walk around, listen to just about the most German I have ever heard in my life, and having lunch. This was my first lunch in Switzerland! But since I don't speak German, and they didn't speak English, I over paid for a piece of chicken, some meat stuff, more bread, and some other potato side dishes. It was good, but I think next time I will leave it to Brian to order for us. He'll watch our prices better than I will. Oh and Leo... Tons of bruat for you!!
Finally we got on our flight to Barcelona, which is where I make my first blog entree. We are so exhausted, but I wanted to make sure you got share everything with us. Down to our cool ford fiesta car that we rented, the yummy sandwich, wine, and chocolate we got on our 1 hour flight to Barcelona from Zurich, and our hotel we found because a lovely Spanish man pretty much guided us here when we got lost! It has been really good so far. I don't want to jinx it, but I hope it continues. Oh the only downfall was our airplane got it by lightning. It was scary but the pilot assured us it was all ok! Well, here you go... Number one blog with more to come!
