Leaving Laos.. Had such a great time here and am so glad I extended my stay in Asia to see what it had to offer; some awesome people and some great memories which I will never forget. I'm a big fan of Laos! So my next plan of action was the slow boat to Thailand. It took around 2 days to reach the border sailing up along the Mekong Delta; the biggest river in Asia. I could have caught the speed boat which would only take about 7 hours to do the entire length but...

Eventually made it out of Vang Vieng..having such a great time with Mark and Michael it was easy to lose track of time..they bought me a bandana (which I haven't taken off since) and we bought leather bracelets to remind us of the good times we have had! Back from Sapa early on New Year's eve we got to a hostel which was recommended to me by a friend..Central Backpackers hostel. Clean, comfortable and cheap it was great, also provided free breakfast in the morning and free beer in the evening..can't complain with that haha! In the day me and Thibaut walked around the city trying to find a good internet cafe and somewhere to eat while the girls decided to see another temple.. We found a cafe place with free intern...

Back to Hanoi from Halong Bay, it really was a nice Christmas! Kirsty, Vicky, Donna, Joe and myself got up early to see Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum. If you didn't know, Ho Chi Minh is a big deal here. He liberated Vietnam from the french and also brought the whole Communist regime to the north. Halong Bay for christmas!! The three English girls (Kirsty, Vicky and Donna) were nice enough to book me onto a Halong Bay Tour for Christmas eve, Christmas day and boxing day. It was an early wake up on the 24th to make the trip to Halong Bay to catch our boat..Now we didn't pay that much compared to other people so I was expecting an awful boat that would probably sink during the night but infact it was awesome!
