I have been massively AWOL i know, and I have about 3 minutes to tell you what has happened in like the last week!
Well, Vienna didn't get much more eventful then what it was, had a few drinks on the last night and headed off to Venice!
Venice campsite was amazing, awesome pool area, parties every night! Needless to say, I had a massive one at the toga party first night in, spent the next day between my bed and the poolside, chowing hamburgers and lots of greasy food.
Then decided I couldn't miss the pool party, so backed it up 2 nights in a row.
Went into actual Venice the next morning, thinking I was fine... not so much. I did see alot of Venice and took photos and bought a nice summer dress, but was inherently HUNGOVER. Spent 20 mins in a bathroom at the restaurant wondering if I would survive.
Got home eventually in one piece, and started on teh beers again..... I did behave myself, even at the best effort of my new bartender friends I'd made trying to persuade me otherwise.
Headed off to Rome, and let me tell you.... YES - Rome is as hot as they say it is!!!!
I arrived and went to check in..... to my tent. With no windows, and no aircon. Wasn't happy with my booking choices on that one, and considering I was paying 30euro a night....
Went off in a huff to hire a towel from reception and got stopped by 4 other busabout travellers, looking for a 5th person to get a 5 bed, 2 bath aircon included, private kitchen chalet, and better yet - only 20euro a night! So I totally lucked out!
Rome was really good, waiting 2hrs in the sweltering heat to get into the Vatican - not so good.... got to a point where I thought I might actually pass out, drenched in sweat, but it was very pretty inside, really cool statues and artworks.
Got to the Sistine Chapel, but couldn't look up at the ceiling for more then a couple of seconds without getting dizzy, so was a bit of a downer. Saw the Trevvy fountain, again, really pretty but hard to appreciate quite as much when I was just so tired and hot!
Decided to change my travel plans and skip Siena, going straight on to Florence with some new friends I made, and added a stop in La Spezia, Italian Coastline here I come!!!
Well day 1 in FLorence and we're off to explore and find some good food and gelato!
Will write a better/more detailed one when I get more time!
