Nat Hart and I decided to go to Dublin to celebrate St Patricks day. This year it fell on a Saturday so it worked out perfectly for a long weekend. Because it was such a busy weekend we couldn't find accomodation in Dublin ourselves so we went with a tour company and they sorted out all accomodation and our travel to and from Dublin. The trip there and back was by coach which was quite good because got to have a look around the English and Welsh countryside on our way to Holyhead to catch the ferry across to Dublin. Our tour guide warned us at the start of the trip that the toilet was only for number ones but someone wasn't listening and not long into the trip the toilet became blocked so after that the trip was pretty bad as everyone was drinking.
We got up early on Saturday for the parade it started at 12 but people were already getting there spots at 10. After the parade we headed over to the temple bar area and meet up with some of my flatmates who had a really good spot in one of the pubs. It was a crazy weekend lots off drinking Guiness (which after that weekend has become my favourite drink) a bit of sight seeing around Dublin and a visit to the Guiness factory.
Our trip back to London was horrible after a big drinking weekend the last thing you feel like is 10 hours on a bus and ferry, everyone was very quiet on the way back. The ferry ride was quite rough as there was high winds. We could just see land and thought we would be about 20min from Holyhead when the captain told us the wind was too strong for us to dock and we would have to wait till it died down, which was about 3 hours! After that trip I was very happy to get home but definitley want to go back to Ireland to see the rest of the country.
