Over Fenetre d'Arpette (2665m) To Champex
On this beautiful morning the 7 of us set out on the wrong track and did some bush basing to get ourselves to where we needed to be, after having a good look at the map the night before, we saw just how bight this day was going to be so we set out nice and early to get a good start on it, I lagged on the climb and got to the top of Fenetre d'Arpette about 2 1/2 hours after the family I had started with that morning. From the top I though I could see them disappearing around the corner at the bottom of the valley but it was really too far awat to tell so I wasn't sure if it was them or not.
The views of the Triant Glacia on the ascent were amazing and the views down in the Trient Valley where we had started from that morning only got better the higher we got. And seeing 3 small avalanches come from the glacia were fantastic.
Looking down into the vally Champex was in was such a contrast to the views on the way up it was hard to believe it was just the other side of the mountain. I had a k20 min break at the top then started my decent to Champex which sitts at 1477m.
As it turns out I love going down much more than going up, with in 40 min i had caught up with the family and we walked into Champex together.
