This morning we went on the ministry (on our bikes) and met up with a sister named Ayako, to do some RV's. Halfway through, we stopped for coffee from a vending machine. In Tokyo, there are vending machines on almost every corner, but these aren't just ordinary vending machines; these are HOT drink vending machines. They're basically the same, but instead of your canned drinks coming out cold, they come out hot. And they're so cheap! So that was exciting...

After lunch the two of us went to Shinjuku to look around the shops and see all the NEON lights!!! Reminded me a bit of Picadilly Circus, and is the Japanese answer to Time Square, methinks. Actually, I think there's a sign up somewhere in Shinjuku saying that... There were lots and LOTS of people there, a LOT of noise, LOADS of tourists (including me for, yes, I am indeed a tourist!), and loads of people selling their wares in the street (mostly food). This morning we had toast and jam for breakfast. The bread here is double the thickness of bread in England... it's HUGE! And its sweeter than our bread, too. We went out on the ministry for a couple of hours ON OUR BICYCLES (yes, everybody; I ride a bicycle out here. This morning we had rice, with dried fish and seaweed seasoning, and miso soup with tofu and seaweed, and more green tea (but no Natto this time!!!). We went to the meeting for 9.30 am on the train, and were welcomed by all the brothers and sisters, with an 'Ohaiyo gozaimasu!' (good morning!), and then 'Yoroishiku onageishimasu!' Later on that evening, we took the train to the Shipmans' home, for an English lesson. Hiroka learns English from Anthony Shipman every Sunday evening, along with another sister, and so I was invited to the lesson as well. It was very interesting, having to teach advanced English-speakers idioms, and the pronunciation of certain words... But definately fun!
