After another very long flight i made it to melbourne, flying with asia's cheapest airline Jet Star! The leg room was non exixitant and you had to pay for everything, from headphones to listen to the inflight movie to your breakfast in the morning! (needless to say i learned to lip read and go without food for a few hours instead of paying any money!)
My first day in Melbourne was spent seeing the entire city centre, i walked pretty much everywhere and it is a kinda cross between a European and America city i guess. I then met up with a friend and headed for St Kilda which was a kind of party town i reckoned. Me and Leila had some dinner and a few drinks before going to lunar park a testing out a couple of rides, they were more aimed at kids but still a load of fun!
Next day it was a drive to Great Ocean Road and a beach at Torquay, unfortunatley the weather was not that great (still better than scotland tho) so i never got any surfing done due to lack of waves. But the area was really nice and we just chilled out at the beach for a few hours in the cold while i attempted to rid myself of my extreme white skin! At night i went out in kensington which was where i was staying, Leila and I then hit a few bars and two of them had really good live music including a U2 tribute band at an Irish bar which was a real "headbanger" eh Leila? lol
Next day i met some distant relatives, not quite sure of the exact relationship apart from Leila who i third cousin 3 times removed i think! Anyway had a lunch (i would say it was nice but the food really wasnt that good) and the people i met were really nice and egar to know all about the buchanans and the family links (which of course i hadnt a bloody clue about) but as they say here in oz "no worries". After that we headed for an Auzzie Rules Footbal match which was quite good fun, i had no idea what the rules were but by the end i had a rough idea what was going on. Then at night i had some traditional auzzie food and some auzzie beer, both of which were pretty good.
Last day in OZ is the right now i guess, i have been exploring Melbourne by myself as Leila is working and her brother Toly is also working so i am taking in all the sites! I have been to federation square and to south bank and i am heading to the museam and imax. Then tommorrow its off to auckland and to explore New Zealand!
