Finally, after so many years, it is time to step out onto Australian soil. Beaming. Look out into the distance, there is hardly a hill in sight. Look to the skies, there is hardly a cloud to see. Look all about you and tell yourself you are not back home. A comforting feeling that instantly puts you at ease. It has been the reports of visitors here saying "Its the way of life that we love" that has intrigued me so, and the itch has longed to be scratched for long enough. Now, sweet relief. And I shall report the same to you.Western Australia, a much overlooked state (where are all the travellers? Surfing and drinking over at Bondai Beach?), is ridiculously large; big enough to house Britain, Germany and Japan and still have enough land leftover around the edges. Mesmerising. Perth, the most remote city in the world, lined with palms, Georgian town houses, a proud heritage, free city buses, and parkland galore. The local beer ain't bad, neit'er.
