The kids woke up around 630 am needing the toilet and in this park they aren't allowed to go by themselves so it meant Nick and I were woken up too! Luckily, I managed to get back to sleep until 8 am but Nick sat outside and read. We had breakfast and then set off for Kuranda. It was a winding drive up into the mountain and it started to rain half way up. Unfortunately it didn't stop until after we got home!! In Kuranda, we found a café and had hot chocolates and muffins before heading off on a walk around the town. We walked the Jum Rum walk and the Jungle walk through the rainforest and then took the River walk along the Barron River before heading back into town past all the market stalls/shops. The markets were so big but full of a lot of the same stuff that they were almost overwhelming, they were also very busy so we walked by but didn't shop!! We decided to skip lunch and drove off to Barron Falls. Once there the three smaller ones didn't want to walk anymore so Nick sat in the car with them while Katharine and I walked to the Falls. A boardwalk took us from the top of the tree canopy through the rainforest and led down to the base of the trees where we had beautiful views of the Barron Falls. Clouds were low in the sky and we were walking through them as we climbed back up to the car. On the way home we called in to Yorkeys k*** to check out the beach but again it was far too muddy looking to be inviting. Everyone was hungry so we visited Woolworths and did a quick grocery shop before finding KFC and McDonalds. Once home, the kids watched a movie to hide from the rain and then had an early bed, while Nick and I enjoyed an evening of peace in front of Sunday night tv!!
