Erma Lefevre-Lane
I've been to Oak Alley Plantation when I went to New Orleans in the summer of 2004, the year before Katrina hit. I wondered how it fared. It was a memorable tour of that plantation. Felt like I was walking on hallowed ground where the ancestors toiled/lived. They claimed the owners were one of the more humane families who treated their slaves fairly and decently, so that was good to hear.
