We woke up this morning as we pulled into Curitiba bus station. We were both a bit groggy but quickly got up, collected our bags and took a taxi to the hotel. This was our first fancy hotel and you could notice the difference, although it did feel a bit sterile as it was full of business people.
On checking in we were informed we had to pay an early check in fee. We weren't too happy but after some haggling got the fee reduced. We then went to our room dumped our stuff and went for breakfast. This was a proper buffet, supplemented by omelettes, pancakes, waffles and sandwiches. We spent some time there eating all the different cakes, breads and fruit and drinking the various juices. Shivani was also happy to get some proper coffee.
We then went back up to the room and I went to sleep, snoring, and keeping Shivani up. I woke around midday and got up to sort out bus tickets and our laundry. Shivani was still tired so was gonna wait in the room. I went down to reception where the receptionist tired to book a bus ticket for me but apparently only Brazilians could book by internet and phone. She did, however, tell me where a launderette was so I got our stuff together and went over there. It was a few blocks away but it was really hot so it was tough going. I eventually found it but was annoyed to find they couldn't get it done till Monday. That was no good to us so I went back to the hotel and dumped the laundry.
I then headed to the bus station. It was about 10 blocks away and took me a while, as it was quite hot. It walked through the mall, which I found had a really big food court, I would come back here later. When I reached the bus station and quickly booked a ticket and headed back to the mall where I ate a burger king.
I then headed back to the hotel. It was cooler now so the walk was easy. I got back to find Shivani had been to the pool. We relaxed in the room for a while and booked our accommodation for Sao Paulo, which was difficult as everything was booked up. We got hungry and decided to go out. Shivani had found some Thai restaurants to go to and the receptionist made a reservation for us while we had our welcome drink.
We then walked over to the restaurant which was quite far away. Getting there we were greeted with a traditional looking place although it wasn't too busy. The chef had to come out and serve us as he was the only one that spoke English. We ordered our food and could choose how hot we wanted it. We both went for the hottest as generally we found food quite bland.
We ate our staters which were quite nice and then our mains came. They were both really hot and Shivanis was so hot she could only eat half. Our mouths were burning now so we walked home stopping for some ícecream to cool our tongues.
When we got to the hotel, we watched tv for a bit before going to bed.
