I've been staying in Dorado for a couple of days now, a little more than a week or so and It's not as bad as I expected it. The really interesting thing about it is that it's not really on the country side, but is not quite on the metropolitan area either. I'm also 10 minutes away from the beach when I'm staying at the house or 10 minutes away from having a mountain in my backyard when I'm staying at the villa. I don't really like the house that much because I feel like everything is so far away. From the house to the entrance gate there's a little more than two miles. I like the nights because I can hear the "coquies" which are an endemic specie of small frogs in the island and it's really calm, but during the day I don't find that there is much to do. In the villa everything is a little closer and the beach is right infront of me. I can hear the waves during the day and especially at night and I can also hear some coquies too, but not as many. It's really calmed, but during the day I get to go to the pool or the beach. I can also go kayaking or paddle boarding and there is a hotel nearby. I've been mainly staying indoors because I have so much homework from my online classes, but I'm tired of not spending the beautiful days at the beach, therefore tonight I'm going to try to get a lot of work done. This town is pretty ok. I think it's very clean and I have not seen any public transportation, which kind of sucks if you don't have people to drive you around. The picture in this post is from the view of the villa on a pretty beautiful day.
I've noticed a few things while staying indoors. It rains a lot in this town and this area in general, but the days that the sun shines, it's breathtaking. I've been doing some reaserch and I didn't know that Puerto Rico had so many tiny islands. So far I've found: Vieques, Culebra, Caja de Muertos, Cardona, Ratones, Morrillito, Isla de Frio, Gatas, Isla de Jueyes, Isla de Ratones (in Cabo Rojo), Desecheo, Icacos, Mona, Monito and Isleta de San Juan. Therefore, I will plan to visit one or two islands everytime I come visit this island, because I want to visit them all. It sounds like it would be a pretty cool adventure. The only one that I have visited for a couple of hours was Culebra, two years ago. I've also noticed that when people live here, they don't tend to really explore so in depth the beauties of this island; however, when you move away and return for vacation or exploration purposes, it's a whole new island, a completely different place.
