Giza
The necropolis at Giza consists of the Great Western cemetery, the Eastern Cemetery and a third, less extensive field south of the pyramid of Khufu. In the East Khufu's sons and daughters received enormous solid stone double mastabas (rectangular tombs). The Western Cemetery contained the tombs of high dignitaries of the court and the pyramid's master builders. There are currently thought to be over 6000 tombs on the Giza Plateau. The picture is one small area of the East Field
