Frantzes Putzua (Basque)- In 1512 the king of Aragon Ferdinand the Catholic invaded Navarra stripping the Navarrese kings Juan III de Albret and Catalina de Foix from the throne. The Navarran monarchs made several subsequent attempts to reconquer the Upper Navarre, with the support of the Kingdom of France. The last major military attempt occurred in 1521, and after the capture of Navarra, they attacked Hondarribia on October 6.After twelve days of siege, the fortress of Hondarribia surrendered on October 18, 1521.
