Geysir, also known as The Great Geysir, is a geyser in the Haukadalur valley Geysir itself is no longer active, but when it did erupt it spurted boiling hot water up to 70metres in the air every few minutes. It was the first geyser described in a printed source and the first known to modern Europeans. The English word geyser derives from Geysir.
