We were supposed to be able to go inside the pyramid. We were the only visitors there. As is so typical of Egypt, there are many police everywhere who seem to do nothing. They told us we could not go in because the pyramid interior was flooded. It had been fine two weeks earlier when our guide Mustafa had visited. However, in preparing the photo I read an article that stated "The entrance to the pyramid is today flooded to a depth of 6 metres as a result of the waters from the Bahr Yusuf (Joseph's) Canal, which flows around two sides of the site and passes within 30m of the pyramid."
