This is the only sort of decent picture I got from the nature walk through the rainforest on our first night in Monteverde - you have to zoom in to see it. It's a trantula. I learned that all spiders have venom - if it doesn't have venom it's not a spider - but most spiders don't have enough venom to hurt humans.
