It's just Rachel and me now and we've been having a great time in Seville, which has lovely quaint old buildings and alleyways. The weather has been mainly good and a nice temperature for walking around.
Yesterday we found our way through the old neighborhood our hostel is situated to the Cathedral of Seville, an absolutely massive gothic structure! Very impressive inside. We climbed the Giralda tower, the old minaret from the 12th century mosque with a gothic top with bells added later for great views over the city. We then spent the rest of the day wondering around. Our severely limited Spanish make ordering food difficult, but we have been able to have some good tapas so far.
In the evening we visited the Flamenco Museum, which had great interactive exhibits and then watched a flamenco show with some top dancers there. It was very intense, but I especially liked the Spanish guitar player, I may have to learn some. I think some of the techniques would be useful in my own playing!
Today we headed back to the same area to visit the Real Alcazar a palace/fort that has housed all the many royals here. It is a real mish-mash of styles, with Moorish style similar to what we saw in Morocco adorned with Renaissance style on top. Quite strange, but it did have nice gardens to wander in!
After a great lunch near the university where I had my first paella it was off up the river to do a tour around the Bullfighting Ring. It was a pretty neat building and seeing all the old costumes was fascinating, the sport itself is pretty crazy though and I don´t think I´m a fan!
We are still full from lunch so might just head out for some dessert tonight after seeing lots of good places on our wanders!
