Well I did it once agian, on saturday night I went out and partied for Alesha's 21st, we went to the B-side club, which was pretty funky. Meg and Blake from Toronto were there and Jay from Montreal and it was a good night, we all chipped in for a litre bottle of Vodka and it got punished...
But then I decided to get my seedy body out of bed after a few hours sleep and hop on the bus to go snowboarding at Mont Blanc (the 2nd highest peak in the laurentian's, 2nd to Mont Tremblant). Now I thought Mont Saint Sauveur was good, well wasn't I mistaken. This was Mont Blanc's opening weekend and only 2 chairs were open but it gave access to most of the runs on Mont Blanc itself. There were zero crowds it was get to the bottom hop on the lift straight away and do it all again and again, most of the time I got a 4 person chair to myself, thats how small the crowds were.
And since there weren't all that many people and the slope hadn't been overly riden the snow was in awesome condition. The runs like the giant slalom (blue) and Dufour (black) and even the green Yodel allowed for so much speed it was great....one of the best days on the snow I have ever had. And only one stack when I flew over the last drop on the Giant Slalom, tried a bit of a grab and landed hard on my ass (and pretty much got to the bottom of the run on my ass in a cloud of powder). The only bad thing is the sun sets on the opposite side to the main mountain face, so the light gets very low early in the afternoon (and stupid me didnt pack my low light goggle lens for the day...will know better next time).
Anyway I rate Mont Blanc as affordable excellence...cant wait to get back here in the new year when the whole mountain is open
