Archbishop's Cathedra
This piece of furniture is found solely in a cathedral. It is the throne used by a bishop - or in the case of York Minster, by the Archbishop. It is the symbol of the Archbishop's authority. The word 'cathedral' derives from 'cathedra' in Greek and Latin which means 'seat' or 'throne'.
