An encounter with a famous illustrator
Tomi Ungerer (second from left) is one of Strasbourg's living treasures. He is the first person to have published a children's book in Europe. He is also a political cartoonist and author. Celia bought me one of his books called "Les Chats" ('Cats') at a bookstore called 'FNAK'. When she was talking about the book, a man who was standing nearby told her that the man himself was signing autographs in the other bookstore across the road! I couldn't believe my luck, and hurried over - only to find that it was near impossible to get an autograph (with the hoards of people already there). Still, I was content to have had a glimpse of greatness :)
