During our time in Buxton, Kat and I stayed with a family of talented performers - the two sons Joe and Sam performed in the Funny Wonder's Young People's Company production called "The Silk Road". A version of this production was actually performed in Japan. The show that Kat and I saw had a variety of different puppet pieces, including some Indian Rajasthani puppetry performed by the workshop group of the famous Anarupa Roy. There was also a brilliant solo piece from "Urashima Taro", where Aya the puppeteer operated a beautiful bunraku-style puppet. The finale involved a fanfare of large-scale puppets dancing to samba music.
