Ok guys - firstly very important i cant find anywhere in thailand that has a computer fast enough to put on the photo's yet - panic not we are headed back to Bangkok this aft so hopefully soon ok?
Right back to the story - so we went to Koh Phi Phi. Those of you who know me well know this is basically the pinnacle of my trip i've had a picture of phi phi up on my wall since first year at uni! so lets say i was very excited.
Good call! no real dramas the place was pretty decent (well except for the excuse of a toilet that had no flush, cxouldn't cope with toilert roll as it didnt flush and relied entirely on filling up a bucket of "fresh" water to clear it) other than that though it was eally nice. There were plenty of cheap and pretty bars and cafes along the beach and its only a short (rocky, centipede infested, death slide) stroll to long beach. So we spent a whole day there with our newly acquired snorkels. Pauls was ace mine however well! the woman who sold it to me said it was the right size for my stupdily small head - all i can say is there must be some people with peanuts for heads!!! It crushed my ears, squashed my nose and because there was little room between the face peice and snorkel caused a beaut ulser! c'est la vie - because my god have i discovered the warmest sea water in the world. It was like swimmiing in a bath! a very VERy salty bath ill grant you but how delightful!
So beach was great - the next day we decided to hire a private long tail boat (super cheap) for a few hours and go snorkelling around the smaller phi phi island - phi phi lei. This is where they file the beach - and we were not disappointed. We stopped off at three different spots and the fish and coral in the water in my opinion at the very least matched the barrier reef. We used up an underwater camera in about ten minutes. unlucky because as soon as we did we found a massived black and purple star fish and a lionfish!! Again sorry bout the photo but even if i do find a computer that works quickly these would be on the under water camera and that needs developing when i get home. SO beach good, snorkeling really good!
We even managed to fit in some shopping and a massage. Paul went for the tradional thai massege- i think i heard every bone in his body click - it was gross but he maintains it was amazing - funny how he has decided that he doesn't want another one though? I had an oil massage- and lets just say i was somewhat shocked by the brasen disregard for personal space. Well actuallt thats not sop bad some of our firends from oz met up with us here and bless Trina was telling my about here bikini wax - far too intimate for my liking i will def avoid that one. Suse you will wet yourself when i tell you bout it.
Right so after lovely phi phi we headed back to the mainland to Krabi! I was really looking forward to this one beacuse i here the beach off of Krabi - Railay is absolutely gorgeous. I still dont know whether this is true as the rain was so bad we could get a boat over. So we resorted once again to shopping - Rick your t-shirt mission is coming along nicely! So heres the funny bit a out Krabi!
As i may have mentioned we booked the whole southern part of thailand accomodation and travel with a travel agency in bagkok. So we onlu had the leaflets of the places we were going to stay at to go by. We arrived at the accomoadtion in KRabi and it was a little bit different from the picture.
Dont get me wrong the place was quite amz ing - a little bit out of the town in the jungle adges, with an amazing fresh water pool you could swim in (were it not raining the whole time ofcourse). The family who ran the resort were so lovely and friendly it was crazy but the bungaloes were made of bamboo with wicker roofs. This was ok - i abit wierd at wild compared to the brick buildings we have been getting used to but we got rid of the ants and admired the beauty of it. THis is when disated strcuk. We came back in from the rain to find a spider bigger thasn my hand (i know my hands are small but it was huge) just nestled on the ceiling attached to a mssive egg. Not knowing whether this beast was poisoness paul went to get the porter. I kept watch over the beasty in case it moved. as soon as paul left another bloody one crawlerd out near the first one and then hid back in the wicker. I screamed and first one also hid in the wicker. THe poor guys came back with big sticks but no amount of hitting thew wicker made them emerge, wierd that? So as far as the guy was concerned it was fine - i swear i was nearly hyperventilating i could even go back inside -si was stodd outside like adrowned rat when a third brute ran along the balcony - that was it! I satred crying - i know i know total girl but i panicked. YOu would not have been able to pay be to go back inside let along sleep in there. THe owner came out and i must have loked such a wreck he let us sleep in a spare room in the house. Bless him and his wife. Any of you think i was over reacting wait until i can get the pics up!!
so thats about it for Krabi - next stop Koh Phangan for the full moon party!
