OK from Kroombit - easily my fav part of the trip! Its sort of a catlle ranch in the bush - except the cattle are mainly goats! Brilliant fun! HE're what we got to do - shoot clay pidgeons, ride the mechanical bull, A Goat Rodeo, learn how crack awhip and lasoo an animal!
Lest start with the clay pidgeons shall we? My turn - i got up went to the shooting bay, the rnach leader stood by me explained the gun, told me not NOT to touch the trigger which i kept involuntarily doing - i know im an idot i didn;t do it on purpose my fingers are just short (mill and durnall i know i have small hands) and my finger basically kept going near the trigger. SO when it was fianlly time to shoot i had my safety ears on and i shouted 'PUll' to the person with the clay pidgeon thing! Nest thing i knew was not that i had puled the trigger because i didn't even know i had, i did't hear the shot i didn't notice that the clay pidgeon thing had not worked and there was no bird. THe only thing i knew was that the gun jolted back into my shoulder and the thing hurt!! I turned around the ranch guy was in creases, paul was pur0ple laughing - baically everyone there who had been watching were pissig themselves laughing at me! Whats worse is i had four more shots i had to take before the humiliation was over - i swear i nearly cried!!!!!
So onto the goat rodeo! Basically we got split into teams of 3s one person had to catcht the goat -by the horns- one person had to pick it up by its legs and drop it gently onto its side and one person had to get the branding rion (not a rea one is was cold is was just a game we weren't really branding any animals beofre people get upset!!!) and pretend to brand the goat on the back leg. They then got scored on points. My team was not excting - i will try out the videos on tomorrow if i can but the best two teasm were Trinas - who couldn't catch the goat and even tried to reason with it and Chris's who couldn't pick up the goat no matter how hard he tried - trust me wait for the video it will ruin it if it tell the story.
So after Kroombit we got the bus to Airlie beach. THis is geenrally where people go on the sail boats but as paul and i were on a time limit we didn't quite have enough days so instead we did two day trips.
THe first was on a cruise to a pontoon ton the great barrer reef - the pontoon was amazing it has an underwater tunnel, a submarine, a glass bottom boat and a slide! Honestly we were in our element! We aso did some scuba diving while we were there - and i swear there was only one poit whe i thought i was going to be eaten by a shark - not that i saw one but the instructtor sudden;y stopped and look right at me i thought there was a shark behind me - i nearly forgot to breathe!!!
SO on the glass bottom boat we made pauls dream when we saw a sea turtle - there's a picture which again i will try put on tomorrow! We also saw a small shark, lots of nemos and a maori wrasse! Which is a very friendly giant fish which i thik looks like a shark! but maybe that's just on the brain??
Right so day two we went on an ocean rafting trip - its a speed boat that whizzes around the WHitsundays so you can stop off at various places after speeding along the waves at some incredible speed and the waves are pretty turbulent! We saw some aboriginol cave paintings and had lunch on the white sands at Whtehaven beach - it was amazing! Even snockled on some of the reef! Stil scared of sharks by the way!
Thats enough of Airlie - oh wait at the bar in arilie just a side note- we saw ths woman who was clearly hammered struttig her stuff on the ance foor, suddenly pull her skirt up flashed her bum and just wiggled - wierdo!!
Right next we went the MAgnetic island! Not loas to say about maggie other than ee got a free snorkle day and free kayak hre which was wasted as there was a giant crock in the sea so we could go in!! Gutted! But we took advantage of the time and chilled in sun by the pool - also did a walk to see some wild koalas and a fort from the second wolrd war! It was pretty amazing and a bit eery but i loved the koalas so i was glad we went!
Thats aboout it we jumped the coach to cairns where we had half a day to see the city - had a cheap tea courtesy of oz experience and some drunk aboriginal decided to touch my head alot - paul was not impressed - niether was i - he did not smel good!!!!
Thats it for oz - amazing and far too short - next time we are going to do the great ocena road and see uluru! x
