Nazca desert, Chauchilla Cemetery
The prehispanic mummies of Nazca (from around 200 AD). The cemetery was first discovered in the 1920's, and has been extensively plundered by huaqueros (grave robbers) who have left human bones and pottery scattered around the area. This has led to the well-preserved mummies to start to decompose, but many of the mummies still have soft tissue such as hair and skin.
