I could't sleep last night, was feeling a mixutre of excitement - my first long haul flight, 9hours! Also feeling nervousness, i couldnt really figure out what i was nervous about, probably because I want this trip to be a success as I know if I manage well on this trip, many more big trips will follow and I wanted to be ok. Probably nervous about how I am going to cope with what I'm expecting, a cultural shock. I have heard so many things about India, mainly about how bad the country is, the poor, the food, slightly putting me off, but I am determinded to India to see for myself and make my own verdict.
Before I knew it, i was on my way to Heathrow. I have never been to Ternimal 4, so cue the excited Mikhail. The queue for the check in was LONG! All the solo travellers were jumping the queue to check in at the allocated desk for first class travellers only - making me feel very jealous that they were being upgraded to first class, only to find that they were also sitting in the economy class when we boarded the plane.
Once we checked in and went pass security, at last, I was able to relax. While waiting for the gate number to show, i was shown how busy Heathrow is, where we were sitting, we can clearly see the whole runway and the airport and the constant flow of airplane taking off every minute.
Finally, on the plane! The interior in Air India is really outdated, couple of stitching that holds the upholstory together is starting to come apart, the telly was really slow. The food was ok, was expecting a whole lot worse!
As I'm writing this, still got another 6hours to go, it going to be a long flight!
