From Chau Doc we had to travel 8hours by coach to get to Saigon, this was such a long day. We were getting pretty fed up of coach journeys by this point! Once we had arrived we put all of our washing in at the local laundrette as it was pretty horride after all that sewer flood water had got to it! We were really excited at the thought of having really clean dry clothes. That night we met our new group for the Vietnam part of the trip, As we had to say goodbye to 7 of the group that we travelled through Cambodia with. So 7 new arrivals and they are all English, can u beilive it!? So now we have 15 again in the group plus Nin our tour guide. We went for dinner with both groups for a final/start dinner. Mike tryed the chicken feet and snails along with some of the other lads. Poor Kate (our friend Kate) ordered a beef soup and it turned up with pigs blood and a brain in it, she wsnt feeling well to start but after that....!
next moring we woke early for our trip to the tunnels used in the Vietnam War. We couldnt believe how small they were. We had the oppourtunity to go inside the tunnels (they have made them bigger so westerners would fit, but they were still so tiny) So in we go Kate and Mike at the front behind the local Vietnamese man (if you went itn without him you probably wouldnt find your way out again) after 5 mins of tunnels you start tp get so hot and panicky, a lot of the group had top come out before the end because it was too much, But we battled it through till the end! Mike also shot a gun there, Mike and Graham shared 10 bullets. We arrived back at the hotel and packed our stuff up ready for our first sleeper train in Vietnam.
We shared a compartment with Kate and Mark who we have become very friendly with. The train was soo mnuce we couldnt believe it, we played a lot of cards (Trumps) and got quite a decent night sleep.
