Buenos noche!

I´m bright eyed at 11.30pm so thought I would update my blog.

Arrived last night at about midnight Lima time. Got to bed about 2.00am. Back pack all good!! Nice young guy picked me up - he tried a few words of english - I did same in Spanish LOL! Did get about five hours sleep. Construction in this area so noise started early. Í´m in a town called ´Miraflores´- popular area with tourists. Really lovely.

My room is really nice - own modern bathroom. I thought it was a cupboard to start with and went wandering back down stairs looking for bathroom. I found two!! I thought wow that´s going to be busy in the morning - there are four floors of rooms. Of course my room is on the fourth floor - only stairs. By the time I got to the top with the pack & two other bags I was ready to fall over LOL!! Need to get some fitness over next few weeks. Going to be interesting coming back down the stairs! Not sure about toilet set up. I´ve been told and read that you don´t flush the paper down the toilet and to use the bin. There is a bin beside the toilet but it is so modern that I´m not sure...hasn´t blocked yet!!

I was pretty nervous today venturing out and fluffed around to about midday when the need for food got the better of me. I dug out my map and went wandering. I found a little cafe/restaurant. Lots on the menu - only new one word `pollo`which is chicken. Half-dozen or more with ´pollo´so just picked one. The girl could speak a little english. Really yummy. Ended up being a stir fry with rice - huge plateful for about $4.

Next thing was to find post office. Found a little shop with postcards - ´una sol´- very cheap - bout 30 cents. Went across road to post office and sent a postcard to my nana. I thought she would like that.

From there found a supermarket - lovely fresh food, groceries, grog. Got some water, couple of beers, bananas and some sort of nut bar to snack on and liquid soy yoghurt. About 4.30pm then so wandered back to Hostal. Only had one beer and fell asleep for about an hour. The other warm one is waiting for me!

I have a tour tomorrow afternoon to one of the local archaelogical sites about 40 mins out of town. The rest of the group should arrive tomorrow night. The Coordinator rang me today to see if everything was OK.

Going to find a little cafe for breakfast in morning - next little adventure. Tummy good :)
