The perahera is a traditional buddhist parade, originally performed so that kings could show off their wealth. There aren't any kings nowadays but it's still a load of fun. This one started over 2 hours late (they were waiting for the elephants to arrive, what else?) and it went on for around an hour and a half but I've chosen the highlights so you can enjoy it in a much shorter time.
