What a beautiful city Stockholm is, home of 'Mickael Blomquist and Lisbeth Salander'(The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo). With the help of our guide Lisa we found their apartments.
In the pm we take a walk in the old city to get our bearings. The city is made up of many islands and bridges. We have a stunning view from our hotel room across to the old city.
We walk along the waterfront to visit the 'Vasa' museum. 'Vasa' is a massive 16th century war ship that sank in the Harbour on her maiden voyage.
It is really cold here although the sun is out the wind chill off the water knocks about 4 off of the 6 degrees Celsius.
We have dinner at 'Fem Sma Hus'. It is very traditional Swedish cuisine such as Deer, Herring, Scallops and Reindeer. A great place. At the hotel we watch the American version of 'The girl with the dragon tattoo'.
The next day we are travel weary but we walk to the contemporary art museum and the national museum. There are 100 museums in Stockholm. In the pm we have arranged our walking guide Lisa. She is very intelligent and entertaining. Our idea is to learn as much about Sweden as we can in 2 hrs. We do.
There is a lot of military activity in the city today, especially the King 's guard and band. We learn the Finnish prime minister is visiting. We eventually come across him, plus the Queen .
We have dinner at the Opera Bar (well recommended), we meet American couple Scott and Kelly Lenz, from Minissotta. We have very entertaining conversation about travel and American politics.
Wednesday, our final day here, we have seen enough museums and architecture, so we play golf . Sweden has over 400 golf courses we find the 'Kungsangen Golf Club' about 35 kms out of the city. It has just opened after winter, a bit wet but very good track with lots of water. MB wins at last and maintains his lead in 2012 European Cup. Back to the hotel for a much needed Swedish massage .
Tomorrow we leave after a very enjoyable Sandinavian tour .Back to Italy for some warmer weather ,we hope.
