  • Flam, Norway Apr 13, 2012

We are forced to rest today, it is Saturday morning we are at our hotel 'Fretheim' in Flam. It is snowing and foggy, we are waiting for our ferry to take us on a scenic trip down the fjord to Voss. Yesterday we left Oslo early by train. A 4 hour trip, lots of people with skis were on the train. It was very scenic, especially when we came to snow covered mountains and it was snowing. We changed trains at Myrdal, (this is at 1000 meters), for Flam railw...

  • Oslo, Norway Apr 10, 2012

We always liked to be pleasantly surprised. Coming in by air to Oslo there was snow on the ground, it was cold and raining, but Oslo really did surprise us. We have called it 'The City of Sculpture'. Sculpture is in abundance here, the buildings are exciting, it's a stunning city. Norway is the fourth wealthiest country in the world largely due to oil and natural gas production from the 80's in the North Sea. Due to the cold and rain, we wonder if we will be a...

  • Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 7, 2012

We arrived around 3pm and we are staying at the Admiral hotel overlooking the Harbour, in what used to be their docklands and naval base area. The hotel is a renovated old warehouse. We have a 6th floor suite overlooking several warships docked in front of us. At night the view is terrific with all the ships and Opera House light up. We have time for a quick walk to try to get our bearings. We pass the royal palace with the changing of the guards. We have an ear...

This is a newly renovated boutique hotel which is stunning. We have a great suite 4th floor, overlooking the 7 dials square. Covent Garden, west-end, is the heart of the lively end of town with all it's boutique shops, restaurants and theaters all a few minuets walk from the hotel. Our first afternoon is spen...

  • Bodiam, Adj Castle Inn, East Sussex, United Kingdom, UK Apr 3, 2012

Spring has sprung, country side is beautiful as we drive from Battle to Maresfield. Yellow and white daffodils everywhere. We stop at Bodiam castle built in 14th century by a wealthy knight who fought most of his life in France. It is stunning, set in countryside and surrounded by a large moat . We spend the night in the small village of Maresfield. The next day on our way to London we visit Winston Churchill's home 'Chartwell', which is set on a beautiful farm...
