I never thought that I could do a skydive, but I decided I could do it after hearing that a grandmother and a 12 year old kid jumped. I was nervous going up in the plane and tried unsuccessfully to create a bond with my instructor. I guess he was focused on the upcoming jump. I tried to remain as calm as possible but as the plane kept gaining in elevation it was unreal to think I would be exiting the plane in the air and not on the ground. I was the first to jump from the plane as the other two guys in my plane were jumping at 15,000ft. Scott (the instructor) told me to scoot to the edge of the plane. I was there on the edge looking down on the mountains and my legs were dangling from the plane. Scott counts down for me and on the count of 3 we are off into the air. We were traveling at about 200 kph down to the ground but it didn't feel like it was going that fast. After screaming for a few seconds, I looked around and felt pure bliss! It was amazing just flying through the air like a bird. It was one of the best things I've ever done. Just such beautiful scenery! It was absolutely amazing! I had the perfect day to jump in Queenstown, which is the adrenaline capital of NZ full of opportunities to bungee jump, paraglide, and swing through canyons. On the day I jumped the sky was blue and clear...just perfect! I have the DVD of my jump if anyone feels like giving it a look when I get back!
