Today we arrived in Iceland. We took the Glacier Safari excursion and had a great time! We started by climbing in our super truck and visited Thingvellir where the North American and European plates meet. It was a very interesting area. We then took the super trucks up to a glacier and rode out on the ice that was 500 ft deep. We got out and walked around while we were there. We then headed out on a back road and saw a great waterfall. Next we we took the super truck into a river and then road up a pile of lava! Next was lunch. Then we headed to another water fall which was beautiful and pictured in this blog posting. Next we visited the largest hot spring in Europe. Over 95% of all electricity in Iceland is created by these thermal springs. We ended the day by going through the Hvalfjordur tunnel and then driving around downtown Reykjavik before heading back to the ship. It was a fantastic day in Iceland.
