Sounds like your having an amazing time, which is great to hear. Very jealous right now!!
Looks like nobody won the sweepstake we talked about at the Plough!! Only messing!
Anyways take care Mel, keep the journals coming.

Hi Mel
I am equally glad that you survived your sky dive! Can't wait to see the video of it. You are a lot braver than me that is for sure. Hope you managed to get some new clothes at the market, all that careful planning of your travelling wardrobe was kind of pointless then!!!! How is your hair looking these days?
PS I am totally nicking all your socks
See you later

Hello Melanie Jane (aka superwoman) I have been very worried today about your sky dive - so I am delighted that you survived it and that it sounded amazing. Ah poor Fred - but at least his last days have been spent living it up on quad bikes and diving out of planes etc. I hope that you are going to have a suitable mourning period when he finally draws his last parasitic breath!!!!
SOCK COMPETITION - 121 socks were in the wash basket (yes that does say 121!!!) So the winner with a very low guess of 48 i believe is Julia. So a mars bar is on its way to her unless anyone wants to dispute it. Well done for your guesses but I did warn you not to underestimate!!! Before any of you lovely ladies start having a go about me not doing the washing etc. can I remind you that Melanie is 21 and an independent young woman who fortunately does not have the foot odour problem that some of you seem to suffer with. Even 121 socks did not smell at all (most of them were probably clean as is half of the stuff in her wash basket including the three items with the tags still on!!! Anyway as you will probably have worked out for yourself none of us need socks for Christmas (Michelle has already put a bid in for some second hand ones.)
Melanie - I am looking forward to hearing from you when you get to Cape Town. Until then stay safe and keep up with the sun tan lotion p l e a s e. From your lovely mummy. xxxxx
Mel
Hello - I am alive! the Sky Diving was awesome - it was the most surreal experience - I brought a DVD of it and some pictures which I should be able to send home in Cape Town! I also did the Sandboarding which was super hard but then we did it lying down on lie down boards and it was a well fun! my top sped was 76 KM PH!! and the highest of the day was 79!! check me out!!
Anyway better go as I want to go clothes shopping (Namibia is dirt cheap) plus everything I brought with me is now officially minging! I even got some of it machine washed and it still is a funny shade of brown! Gross!
6 Days to go and this tour is over! Boo!!!
P.S who won the sock comp???
P.P.S Fred the friendly worm is nearly dead!
Michelle
Hi Mel
Very excited to hear about your quad biking, sounds absoloutely ace! You can have the sky diving though, I wouldn't fancy that at all although I'm sure it is fantastic. Let me know you are safe as soon as possible afterwards as I am slightly concernced especially after your 'if I survive' parting comments!
Glad to hear you saw an article on my work, was it a positive or negative article as having both good and bad press at the moment which is getting everyone a bit twitchy! A reporter from 'Woman's Hour' on radio 4 came in on friday to record some clips for the show on thursday. Originally I was meant to be doing the assessment she was recording but luckily my manager decided someone more experienced should do it. Did miss out on the chance to have my 15 mins of fame though!
So if anyone gets the chance try to listen to Woman's Hour on thursday.
Anyway better sign off, missing you lots, had a few days holiday and nearly phoned Orion in some of my idle moments before I remembered you were no longer at the end of that phone - (or any phone apparantly!)
Speak soon (possibly...!)
Michelle

Hi - I have just read your last journal entries and am missing you so much that I am having a good cry. Sam is also very upset that you have a new pet. You know how I feel about worms so please try to foster him out before you come home (not too keen on killing him - he was probably trying to find somewhere snug to sleep!. Looking forward to getting a call from you soon. Your friends have been looking after me - Claire is keeping her eye on me and doing my hair for me and she came round on my birthday and has sorted out all my technology problems (with Andrew's help). Also Vicky and Kirsty came round last night and we had a good chat and laugh about the Grange School days and various teachers. Olivia and Vicky got me chocs and flowers which was really lovely of them and Claire is my new best friend. Still blubbing so going to blow my nose - love you xxxxx
