Yippee - I am the FIRST one to post a message in November (first at last!) Mel it's freezing here - cars were iced up this morning - and have those funny furry slippers on - so make the most of that lovely sunshine. Good to speak to you last night - hope you have seen lots more exciting sights. Claire came for tea - she has a very healthy appetite it must be all that extra exercise she is doing!!!! Anyway the cat is still looking for you but thinking you are just out - although he has gone off food and is being a bit moody - but that may have been cos Claire was sat on his sofa. Hello Melanie Jane - right I am the first to post a second message - which makes me the best. It was great to get your text this morning. Things will probably be a bit strange until you get to know the people on your trip and make some buddies. Thought of you this morning as I joined the queue for town at the adams garage roundabout! Just have an amazing time and enjoy the weather and the sights and people and all the new experiences.

ps i spat out the sausage roll - naughty grandad and most of the vodka was drunk by Sarah although she vehemently denied it and used a very bad swear word in front of nan so she's dropped down the list a bit - hee hee.

Richard phoned at the weekend and he was hoping to catch up with you before you left but missed you so I will pass on your details and you never know you might hear from him. I am sure the first couple of weeks are going to be daunting and exciting in equal measure but try an take it all in and plenty of photo's. We need some new stories to replace Paul's about Australia !!!
Jane's party went well at the weekend although your mum tried to eat a sausage roll that your grandad threw at her,she claimed she thought it was a bread roll. I am not one to spread rumours but she had drunk a lot of vodka!

Hi Mel

Thought I would post another message seeing as the last one was aimed at every one else really. Hope you are having a good time and that there are some nice people on your tour. I think we all feel a bit better know we know you have met up with some others. When you didn't ring on friday night me and mum both went to bed telling each other that you were fine and your phone was probably playing up but both secretly thinking you had been abducted by a Kenyan taxi driver and we would never see you again - LOSERS! So it was nice when you did actually ring on saturday morning! Hope you are ok, I have had a great weekend mostly spent worrying if you are ok, know it can be a bit daunting at first. And I've been waking up with a start every morning thinking 'oh my god melanie's in Kenya!' Have got a copy of your itineray and looks like you have some pretty fab days coming up what with game drives on the masai mara and probably getting glimpses of the tribesman on your village walk. So am very jealous. It is a nice day in Manchester so might try and drag Nick out to the country to fly the kite but think the landscape might be pretty tame compared with the Kenyan plains.

Hello all!

Thought I would just post a message to let everyone know Mel just called home and arrived safely. She described her hotel as 'basic' but then proceeded to tell me about the bathroom and balcony in her room and the swimming pool in the hotel - so doesn't sound very basic to me! Anyway she was ok but very tired so planning to go back to bed for the day until she meets her tour this evening. (Hope you managed to wangle a few extra hours in your room before checkout Mel)
