Well what can i say about Koh Samui, its paradise just like the other islands... We arrived here on Tuesday after upgrading this time and paying a extra 50 thai bhat (just over 1 english pound) to take the 45 min boat from Koh Phangan, soo much better and super fast :-)
Had abit of a issue when we arrived here tho, when i went to the ticket desk to cash in on our boat tickets i never told them that we had also booked a transfer from the ferry port to our hotel, this basically meant that we we arrive in Koh Samui there wasnt a mini bus for us (my fault) lol..... we had to wait around and keep our fingers crossed that there would be space for us on one going to our resort, luck has it there was and off we went, as we went further and closer to what we thought was our resort the minibus driver pulled over and stopped at this one hotel, no-one appeard to be getting off and everyone was looking at eachother, he then pointed to me and Claire and said that this was our hotel (which it wasnt) turns out the person at the port misheard us and put us on the wrong minibus going to a completly different reosrt.....AHHHHH.....to cut a very long and painful story short the minibus driver had me speak to this women on the phone serveral time and she was basically saying that WE had told her this hotel so it was are problem and they wouldnt be taking us to our correct hotel... i pointed out to her that we had showed her the name of our hotel written down in Claires diary and we wouldnt of been able to make up a random hotel in Koh Samui and it actually be one...the minibus driver carried on dropping the other people off at their stops, called this lady back again and kept saying he wouldnt take us to the correct reosrt which was about 15 mins away, the lady said we would have to pay for a taxi and then go to the police and get the money back, OH I DONT THINK SOOOO, we refused to get off the minibus until he took us to the correct resort and hotel as it wasnt our problem and to carry on and call the police as i would actually like to speak to them about them TRYING TO RIP US OFF!!!!!! after abourt 45 mins of pissing around he and the stupid cow on the phone decided to take us there.. HAHA, nothing is ever easy for me and Claire we always seem to get the dodgy taxi driver or a weird random person taking us somewhere......
When we finally got there we checked into our hotel (the Samui beach resort, on Lamui beach) hotel seemed nice and they gave us a free upgrade from a fan room to one with air con which was a brucey bonus :-) we also had to try and extend our visas again as we needed another 5 days and the hotel manager/owner was very helpful with this too.. Once checked in we went to the beach front for dinner, as after the whole issue it was after 2pm and we hadnt eaten all day...
Only downfall with this hotel was that it seemed to be abit far from the centre of the town and we had to walk along a rood with no street lights for about 10 mins, not really to much of a problem tho, we were after all only staying there for 2 nights, after this we decided to stay on another resort in Koh Samui called Chanweg, this resort is more busier and had alot more people about...
The next couple of days were spent looking around the shops and shopping, like heaven really :-) On the wednesday we moved on and found another nice hotel for 700 thai bhat a night ( about 8 quid each)
inbetween all this we also had to extend our visas again, due to the day we did it last time we only gained another 10 days and we needed 15, therefore we had to go to the immigration office and pay 2100 thai bhat and have it extended for another 7 days, rip off really but had to be done :-(
Koh Samui is such a nice place to stay, the waters do not seem as crystal clear as Koh Tao but just as nice..
We found a bar here called the "ice bar" we have been told that they have them in lot of countries, its basically a bar made all out of ice, even the glasses you drink from are made of ice, you had to pay just over 500 bhat and this gave you entrance to the bar along with a free shot and 2 cocktails, its minus 7 in there so we had to put on these massive hats, coats and even gloves just to keep warm...LOL, pics are funny......we stayed there until about 2am, closing time, good night all round...
the last 3 weeks or so have really been spent chilling on the beach and doing some shopping in the souniver shops, the one trip we did do on Sunday was go to a animal park, here we could see a monkey show, elephnat show and crocodile show, and we also got to do some elephant trekking and right a elephant, it was wicked took loads of pics so cant wait to show everyone :-) it seemed abit cruel in parts as they had the monkeys chained up and also the elephants, that was abit sad... :-( poor nelly....
We leave Koh Samui tomorrow (Tuesday) and are heading to Phi Phi island, this is the island where the film "the beach" was filmed, another island like paradise, hard life....:-) we are staying there for 4 nights, slightly less that the rest as it is quite expensive to stay there, we are going to do 3 nights in Puket now, this wasnt planned but nice to see another place....
Still loving my time away, cant belive how fast it is going, its scary. Missing everyone loads..
Will update soon with the details on Phi Phi, hope everyone is good.
Love always
