Back in London I made my way from the hotel back to Tracy's for a much earned break. I did absolutely nothing for the rest of the day apart from fall asleep at six pm that night as I was so exhausted! The following week I took in a few more key sights, changing of the guard being one, however this was done with about a million other tourists, so I managed to see the guards march into Buckingham Palace and march back out and that was about it! I also went and had a look at Harrods which really is a rich person's wonderland! The stuff in there is so over the top it is crazy, like a many thousand dollar pen, a pen for god's sake! But the food section is really cool, whatever you want is there, anything and everything, and every type of delicious lolly and chocolate you could imagine!
I also went and spent a good portion of a day in the tower of London finding out about its sometimes gruesome past and had a look at the crown jewels which are so spectacular. It was really neat to see them up close but it was a bit of a shame I wasn't a loud to take pictures, because in person they are stunning!
I also thought I hadn't quite drunk enough over the last few weeks so I went out for a night with a friend of Tracy's for a damn good bender, had a great night, and severely paid for it the next day! However since I was running out of days in London I was determined to go to Camden markets, which I managed in the afternoon with a shocking hangover! I also didn't have the mental capacity to realise that going on the hot tube for over 40 minutes each way and disgustingly packed crowds at Camden was THE most painful thing I could do with a hangover. However Camden was pretty neat and I had no idea there would be just so many stalls there, so it was pretty cool between the moments of feeling utterly sick and tired.
The Notting Hill carnival was also on that weekend so Louise and I decided to go and have a look. It was a pretty neat event with people everywhere and the loudest music I think you can legally have before it shatters glass, flamboyant costumes and people grooving away. We stayed for a few hours and thought we should have another drink or three and just enjoyed the day until we had had enough and headed off for some dinner.
And one of the final days before I met up with Mum I met up with Jess and Thommo from my Contiki trip and spent the day looking around town and going into the biggest coolest kids' shop I have ever seen. In the arvo we decided at the last minute to go to Les Miserable which was a seriously cool stage show! The props and the singing were really superb and the whole show kept me glued to my seat, I am not one to usually go to musicals but this was well worth it!
It was then time to meet back up with Tracy again as she was finally back from her holidays too and we then spent the next couple of days hanging out and doing not much as we were both pretty shattered. Two days later it was time to meet up with Mum and she did a great job navigating Heathrow and the underground and I met her at the closest underground station (no thanks to our cell phones being very sporadic with when they wanted to work, and most of the time not working) and off to our hotel the middle of town we zipped. After a quick freshen up we headed out again to dinner and then to a show. We saw Burn The Floor which showcased a neat range of different dancing styles in cool a singing dancing performance.
The next day we headed out again and went up on the London eye which was surprisingly good as it got you up high enough to get a really good view over the city, and then onto the Victoria and Albert Museum which we raced around at high speed as time was precious and we wanted to take in a couple of key rooms. They made it difficult for us as they had shut off a main access hall from one side to the other and we found ourselves going up and down and round and round to find these damn rooms, and everyone we asked seem to give us slightly different instructions!
Then once more back to the hotel to grab our bags and jump onto the Eurostar and off we headed to Paris!! Take a deep breath..... phewww.......... whohoo! France here we come!
