as soon as we got off the plane the heat hits you! luckily there was the hostel annies waiting at the airport for us. just going on the bus to the hostel alice looks amazing really desserty! at the hostel we sighed up for the mulga tour around ayers rock etc. alice is a very small town, we had to walk into town to get stuff for the trip and you can walk from one end of the town to another in 20mins! it was the melborne cup day so everything was really quiet. we went to the reptile centre, although it was tiny they do a little demo show, and we got to hold a few lizards and a snake as you can see from the pics which was really good!this olive python really didn't like me and kept striking at me!!! back at the hostel theres a pool which was really nice as its acout 40 degrees! for dinner mark had camel cottage pie!!
got up really early to start our three day tour. theres 21 of us and everyone was really ice and there was only three english which was really surprising!mainly germans but they weregreat! we travelled along the stuart highway. our first stop was at this little shop which had alittle joey reserve and ugly emus! oh and i got a camel ride! quite bumpy! the horrible thing is that all along the stuart highway at dusk and dawn kangaroos come to the roadside to get water and big trucks come along and hit them!its son sad seeing them dead on the road side! we stopped at this female kangaroo which had been knocked down and her joey was still alive!so we wrapped him in a towel and took him to a sanctuary! we then arrived at kings canyon, which is a massive rock formation. the first bit is called heart attack hill and its so steep!i nearly died! it was also midday in 45degrees heat we were pouring water all over ourselves to calm down. the walk took about 2hours and it was brill! we also stopped a billabong and jumped in, although i fell in! we let the tur guide go in first to make sure there wasn't any crocs or snakes!! at night we drove to a campsite and ate camel con carne! we slept under the stars and saw a million shooting ones! we slept on swags, i didn't sleep very well as i was scared the dingoes would some and get us!the next morning we went to the olgas which is about 32 massive rocks, well impressive, again very hot. due to the heat they decide at 8am if its too hot to go so we left at 7.30am!!it was amazing, i really enjoyed this one at some pints you were between two rock faces and had to slide through! on the way back we saw the buggest red kangas ever!the walk took bout 3 hours!!loved it though. and afterwards we got to eat cake! this afternoon was luxury as we got to go to the ayres rock resort and have a shower and swim!! we then went o watch ayers rock at sunset and it goes bright red!! there was all posh people there eating samon and champayne and we had our camp stove going and beer!! that bight glenn our tour guide just stopped at arandom place on th side of the road for us to sleep!!i hate ush toilets!they give ya a shovel incase you need a poo!! we the got up at 4am! so we culd see ayres rock at sunrise, agioan beautiful!!!then we went there!!! u can either climb it or walk 1.6km around, the aboriginl ppl don't like you to climb it though as they used to perform religious ceremonies and say u're walking over their ancestors footsteps blah blah, and they also have signs up saying so and so died climbing in 2000etc!!!mark climbed it and i walked around, it was massive!!! afterwards we went to an aboriginal cultire centre, and they have a sorry book where people have taken pieces of ayers rock and sent them back with a sorry note as they had been cursed!! seriously!! some of the letters people had got cancer, divored etc just for taking the rocks!!! we then had a bbq and took the long journey back. i daren't look at the side of the road as i don't want2cnemore dead roos!! that night back at the hotel we all had a meal together, and got very drunk! w then went out to a hillbilly bar- good laugh but u do really get all sorts in there!!!on the walk back there was 7of us, 4guys and 3 girls. we passed this aboringal and one of the guys said hello and he then purposely elbowed everyone!!! apparently they try and start fights and say white people ar bullying them!!!he knew what he was doing though as there was million abs a stone throw away! we then went back to the hostel and drank some more!! we'd been up 24hours! i was so ill the next morning!!!!
