We have just had 7 amazing days cruising through the Galapagos Islands and are now in Puerto Ayora in Santa Cruz, one of the larger islands, where we are staying for a couple of nights because I am diving tomorrow.
The islands were amazing, much better than expected. We saw lots of boobies (red, blue and masked!!) as well as sea lions, land and marine iguanas, sally lightfoot crabs, lava lizands, land tortoises etc etc. Best of all though was the snorkelling and being able to see things I´ve never encountered whilst diving - white tip reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, penguins only a yard away and lots of playful sea lions amongst hundreds of fish as well as turtles and sting and eagle rays! You can get so close to all of the animals although I did have to run away quite embarrassingly when a sea lion decided I was getting a bit too close!
And for those of you who are interested and lets be fair most Brits are - the weather is hot and humid but beautiful!!
After a couple more nights in the town we are flying back to Quito and then starting our journey south through Ecuador!
Hasta luego
