We're now just coming to the end of our 6 days in Phuket. Its been quite a nice change to be somewhere so touristy as you don't have to think about everything so much! We've spent a couple of days on the beach which is lovely, although a little crowded.
We went to Dino Land, a crazy golf course, modelled on the dinosaurs and the Flintstones. It was the best course we've played on as they'd put in a lot of effort with the landscape and the model dinosaurs. Marc won as usual (but only just!) and had to get wet to recover one of my balls from the water. After we went to cool off in the Dino bar with Pterodactyl and Dino burgers. Was a bit disappointed as the Lonely Planet guide said that the staff all dressed up as the Flintstones, which they weren't. Think I'll write in to complain!!
We went to FantaSea one evening, a cultural theme park. This is basically a show involving lots of thai dancers, 30 elephants, a tiger, and acrobats above the heads of the audience. It was an awesome performance, definately worth a visit. The park also has a festival village where you can ride elephants and play fairground games to win cuddly toys. We had our photo taken holding a baby tiger cub (so cute!!). Unfortunately you couldn't take a camera into the theatre but we took some photos in the festival village.
Yesterday we went to James Bond Island (out of Man with the Golden Gun) by long tail boat. This was quite good fun as the scenery was fantastic, and the boat ride was unique. However, the trip did include the obligatory stop at the sea gypsy village where there was nothing but a restaurant and some stalls with ladies wanting you to have your picture taken with a monkey in a nappy (for a small fee of course). We just sat on the jetty and waited for the boat to leave.
Its our last day today, we're going to Patong this evening. Tomorrow we get the bus over to Ko Samui and then onto Ko Pha Ngan. Will update soon.
