Hollywood, Los Angeles, California
Hollywood- wow! Not entirely what I expected in some respects. Initially LA isn't so inviting as you enter from LAX. Drab buildings and pathways deserted by pedestrians. Salon after salon looks the same, just a different name. Where I'm staying isn't as I expected. I
Imagined it to be amongst the hype of Hollywood Blvd, but rather about 10/15min walk from the action and opposite a Salvation Army. The street scape when captured on the camera, is how you see it, yet once I see Sunset Blvd tomorrow, that may reveal the Hollywood I pictured. The characters I've met so far at the hostel seem nice, each with there own story. Some doing intensive acting courses, others working the tour guide programs, or just an escape. Some have spent much time here, whilst I'm only here a few days, and suspect that will be more than sufficient as I've already been warned. And now I see why. The tour guides on the street flash pamphlets in your face which cover a million and one attractions in a two hour tour, that's almost everything covered if you just want to do the basics. Tomorrow's a new day, as a typical LA tourist with the 'LA City Tour' that the hostel offers, and I think a drink will be in order too!
