A three-day stop over in Singapore before meeting Ellie in Cambodia.
Although not my cup of tea - as it's a city which goes from super modern to kitch wedding cake like buildings)- I really enjoy the relaxed rithms and the cleanliness (the tube is spotless white and my hostel is soooo clean I could sleep in the shower!!!!). I know this may sound weird for those who know me well, but after 7 months in third world countries with often no hot water, no electricity, crazy horns, mad traffic day and night and a very poor waste management, it feels good to be back to normal standards for a few days.
When I landed at Singapore airport I felt like Alice in Wonderland: brands I recognised, Western restaurants and bars, real coffee, nice clothes, ridiculously expensive cosmetics...I almost forgot these things existed. I can't even remember the last time I put some make-up on! I remember thinking to myself: why did I bother booking a hostel?! I could happily spend weeks here at the airport!
Moneywise it's a bit of a shock as I spent in 2 days in Singapore the equivalent of a week/week and a half in India, but hey I guess you can call it the price for comfort :-)
Will upload pictures in the next few days.
