With the girls not arriving until tomorrow, Dad and I decided to head to the Banks Peninsula and Akaroa. The peninsula was formed by a volcano and settled by the French (who seem to go hand in hand with explosions in the Pacific). Akaroa Harbour is protected from the rough ocean, and is a fertile growing region.

Today we flew across the 'ditch' to Christchurch NZ, just dad and I, where we picked up the RV which is home for a fortnight. Just our luck to hit one of New Zealand's wettest weekends for years.
