Our week in Phuket was a very enjoyable one. The first thing I did when i saw the hotel room had complentry dressing gowns was get completely naked and don that bad boy! The week in the fancy hotel completely shot by as we lay by the pool or on the beach and embarked on many night time swimming ventures. We also became good friends with some of the hot barmaids who invited us to the staff party that was going on that night. Ian spent a lot of that evening horribly drunk and getting come onto by the gayest man in Thailand, Josh. This possibly could of been that i had told Josh that Ian swung that way but who knows. We also were fortunate enough to spend Thai New Year at the hotel, which is celebrated by public waterfights. Naturally, Ian and I took it upon ourselves to go and soak as many staff as possible, prioritising the female ones with white tops!
Far too early the end of the week was upon us, as was the scary room service bill. After destroying Jacks credit card with it we left and took a minibus to Surat Thani where we procceeded to take an overnight cargo boat to Koh Phan Gan. This was pretty unconfortable, especially as i woke up spooning a certain Ian Mann, naturally he was the little spoon. After an exhausting 7 hours or so we made it to the tiny tropical island where we would be going to the Full Moon Party the following night.
We found an incredible place to stay in the form of beach bungalows on Coconut Beach. A family run area where the main passtime was sitting in a hammock on the empty pearly white beaches and sporadically going snorkelling in the crystal blue sea. Not too shabby.
The second day of our stay there was spent getting suitable tanked up for the full moon that evening. We got a group taxi which consisted of the three of us and a group of 9 girls, none of us were complaining. We arrived at the beach and immediatly got ourselves painted, Jack took it pretty seriously and got a dragon on his arm, Ian and I however didn't; Ian got a butterfly whereas i got the most retarded looking bunny ever. It was possible to get beers there, but drinks for the most part were served in buckets. These were filled with 200ml of whisky then some M-150 (Asia's answer to RedBull) and Coke. A perfect combination to get you f***ed up and jacked up at the same time. We immediatly were split up and spent most of the evening apart. After getting more smashed with a group of randomers i ran into Tania who i had no idea was in Asia let alone on a gap year. After hanging out with her i carried on and ran into other people including, Dave (from malaysia), James Taylerson and some big headed boy called Jack Wheeler. By this time it was about 5 or 6am and i was a wreck. The last couple of hours things began to wind down and the alcohol started to turn. We took a tuk tuk back with two of the girls from earlier, and Ian used the alcohol as an excuse to rest his head on ones lap, not subtle. I on the other hand did not feel or apparently look good! Quality night!
The rest of the day i slept on the hammock, Ian slept on the beach as he didnt make it that far. The rest of our time there was of a similar fashion, hammock, sleep and snorkeling. After a few more days we took a boat to our next destination, Ko Tau.
We arrived in Ko Tau at the beach lodges that some of the people at our last lodge had reccommended. This turned out to be a really cool place except for three drawbacks. Firstly there was only two beds so i found myself sleeping on a hammock, secondly it was raining a lot so not only could we not sunbathe that much but i also woke up soaking wet, and thirdly Ian and Jack thought it would be funny to tell the crazy lady who worked there that i was a drug addict. So i spent a lot of my week being chased around by this lady being offered various drugs! Apart from that it was a cool relaxing week away from tourists and the complications of the busy world.
