At Singapore Airport Jack and I were met by Ian Mann, who was to join us for the rest of the trip, and Viki Paine. Vicki was there because she was on holiday with her family and was going to let us stay in the apartment that they own out there. The first thing that i noticed upon arrival was that i sweating like a dyslexic on countdown due to the ridiculously humid air! After dropping off our things we walked from Vickis apartment into town to check out the various shops but ended up getting caught in a tropical monsoon, drenching us and causing us to slip over multiple times! The following morning we left early doors and got a bus to Mallaca in central western Malaysia. This was a pretty mundane city on the coast with not much happening, we checked out a few of the local temples but we found little else. It was very fun though chilling out in our hostel as there was a rooftop garden. At one stage we found ourselves up there listening to music, drinking beer whilst monsoon rain hammered the aluminium roof all around us, this was pretty cool!
After a few days in Malacca we moved on, taking a pretty s***ty coach up to Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur. We stayed in a little apartment in the middle of
China Town right above the markets. Our first day consisted of just checking out the markets and having a look around. The following day was devoted to finding the Thai consualate as Ian being the slightly moronic person he is had not got his Thai visa yet! However, when we found the consulate, it was closed and not open for another 5 day. We decided we could not wait that long so we chose to look elsewhere for a consulate.
As we were leaving Kl the following morning we decided that right now would be an appropriate time to get pissed. We went down to the Jamaican bar below our lodge and had a few beers. This is where we met a chap called Adam. We explained how we were going to a mountainous region known as the Cameron Highlands next and invited him to come along, so he did.
