We arrived in Shanghai after our bus trip that lasted 20 hours it was pretty much just a bus with beds on it.
We were in Shanghai for a week with Paul and Tom and spent most of the time just chilling out as even though Shanghai is a massive city there wasnt that much to do.
We went to see the bund and saw the Pearl Tower from across the river we went to have a look during the day and then planned on going back to see it all lit up at night.
There is a fake market in Shanghai just like the one in Beijing that you can get practically anything and everything. Me and matt went there to have a look Matt ended up getting the whole China football kit for a tenner and then i finally managed to get me some Ugg Boots!! Whoop Whoop! The woman wanted 36 pound for them and i managed to get them for 15! I think we our finally getting used to haggling without getting kicked out of the shop.
We had just missed the expo so we didnt get to see any of it but we did try and go and look at all the buildings but we couldnt get in : (
W found another little fake market down near the bund on our way to see the pearl tower at night, where me n matt got some aftershave and i got some Marc Jacobds perfume for 5 quid each!!!
The bund at night is amazing the and it look slike all the buildings are floating on the river. Me, Matt and Tom went on the Bund Tunnel which takes you under the water through to the other side of the river where you can go up all the tall buildings. The bund tunnel can only be described as the Mersey Tunnel on LSD it was really wierd and just had flashing lights everywhere and just kept going on about pollution and whales...odd!
The night before we left Shanghai me and Matt went up the Shanghai Financial Center which in 2008 was the highest building in the world (it look slike a massive bottle opener.) We went all the way up to the top to the 100th floor. It was surreal it was all futuristic and the lift took about 2 minutes to go up to the 100th floor. The view across shanghai was immense, and they had a glass floor so you could see all the way back down to the street.
On the way back Matt went to the toilet and he came back out telling me i had to go in and see the toilets...they had heated seats!!!!!!
In the taxi on the way to the train station to leave Shanghai and go to Hangzhou, we say two taxis driver having an arguement and one taxi driver had his hands around the other taxi drivers neck and a crowbar to his head. Me, Matt, Paul and Tom were all shocked and the all our taxi driver could do was laugh his head off for about 5 minutes!! It was funny.
