So, as we're probably not going to be able to up date the blog for a while thought we would do another from Sydney.
Last few days have been great, started off by going for a walk along the Harbour mouth (south side) with Jayne, Ini and the kids. Then went to see Bondi Beach in the day (Jayne and Ini live in Bondi so she had shown us it at night already on the "Beaches at Night tour"!). Then went to do another Tourist attraction with the Sydney Sky Tower (and the "Oz Experience" - the less said the better about that!). Sky tower was good though, good views over Sydney and the suburbs. Then went for a bit of a wonder around Sydney, down to Darling Harbour which was nice and then down to "The Rocks". Met Jayne, Ini and the kids at a really nice resteraunt in the Harbour, with one window facing the Harbour bridge and the other facing the opera house - best location in the whole of Syndey pretty much! The food was amazing - a real fish resteraunt ("Peter Doyles" for anyone who wants to look it up) and we feasted ourselves on Crab, Lobster, Prawns, Oysters and more...followed by some excellent puddings as well. Joey and I then went out to the Opera House Bar, which overlooks the Harbour, the Bridge and the Opera House - great location and a really nice time.
Today we've done loads as well. Been down to Bondi Beach to watch some footy with Ini and Joe, which was great until it started raining (and when I say rain, I mean LOTS of rain!). Then went up to the shops to get a few last minute things for the rest of the trip (cheap board shorts, snorkel, frisbee etc - the essentials!). This afternoon we headed back down to Bondi Beach where Matt and Ini went surfing and Joey, Jayne and the kids watched (until they got bored / cold and went for a coffee). Was an amazing experience, didn't go out that far out (just hit the "foamys") but managed to stand up by the end on quite a few waves. Got caught in the rip once though - strongest currents I've ever experienced, there was literally nothing I could do apart from let it take me until there was a wave to bring the board back in. Serious adrenaline rush. Joey did a great job of looking after the kids (and Jayne) on the beach. There are some videos although can't upload them at the moment, but didn't manage to get one of me standing up (but it did happen!).
So, off to Fiji tomorrow before heading to the Solomon Islands. We have now spoken to a number of Doctors in the Solomon Islands (massive thank you to Jayne for letting us use her phone!) and have much more information about where we're going, what to expect etc. Also have accommodation sorted for the single night in Honiara and Fiji which is a bit of a relief. We'll let you know whether the plane actually turns up in the Solomons (as the rumours really are true about how slow and "Solomon Time" they are!)
Much love to everyone and we'll write again when we can.
