Next we did a mission to Montreal on the bus which was a long 6 hours (thankgoodness for the IPOD), Montreal is completly different, 65% french speaking so almost a different place. We managed to find the HI hostel fairly easily with a little help from this japanese girl, checked into out 10 bedroom dorm and headed into the city to explore. We first went to find the Underground city which is basically a large shopping mall underground with offices too, people mostly go here to shop and work when Montreal faces its harsh winters! We went to find some cool bars and ended up staying a while in this cool irish bar where Irish music was playing was quite chilled out. Next day we visited the old part of the city, this was quite nice and pretty much just like French streets, we stopped off for a coffee and then got a three seater bike thing and went for a cycle along the front, we almost crashed into this wall on a little hill (Mel was steering haha) but managed to stop in time before crashing luckily, the bike was so flimsy it prob would have fallen to pieces if we would have crashed haha! We also went past this weird guy talking to the pigeons hehe. Next we went to visit the Olympic Stadium and observation tower in a place called Pie XI, this was really funny as that day it was the Montreal Marathon and the finishing was here so there was a bit of a welcome commite like the London Marathon, so we had a little wonder and enjoyed that, we also went up in this Olympic tower thing for a cool view of the city (You get taken up in this cable car to the top which goes quite fast was funny!). That day we also went on the yellow underground line and went to Montreal Island just off the coast, there was a theme park (bit late to go in though) a crazy festival on called 'picnic electronic' and a Casino. We went for a little gamble in the Casion (no luck) was funny coz Matt and Russ put $1 down on a black jack table with a limit of $20 so they basically got laughed away by these yanks was funny! We ate in there, the waiter asked where we were from and another one later came up and said his name was Le Gresley and he always wanted to come to where his name was from! Next day we did a bus tour around the city (but we had done such a good job the day before we had seen most of it already), but we did get to see areas that people lived in, went up this steep hill for a good view of the city to take pictures and stopped off at the Notre Damn Cathedral and another church building. That night we ate at this Italian restaurant in Old Montreal and had a really nice meal, we left a tip.... however the waitress went mad and said she should get 15%, I said no way we had a nice meal and left a tip because of that (this was what we could afford), anway she got upset so we left the rest and went home, but she came running down the street after us and gave the money back - we hurried nevoursly home after that, was totally strange, she was well nice but just flipped hehe. After that we got the overnight bus back to Toronto.
